Yesterday, Kurt and I (along with many others) spent about
3 hours at the UBC Agassiz Research Centre in Agassiz..
I was very interested in all our tour guide had to say, but
what kept going through my mind was..
'What a beautiful place this is; it is such a gorgeous location!'
It is so quiet, nestled between mountians,
and green, and.. lovely!!
Kurt has the opportunity to spend a few weeks during his
Grade 12 year doing the Dairy Tech Level 1 course there
if he chooses. There are 16 spots available to all
local high school students, and 9 interested from TCS!
It is a fabulous course & we don't have to pay the
$1000 course fee since they are incorporating it as an Ace It
course for high-school students (so it is government funded).
It is a world renown research facility where people come from
many different countries to do their research
for their Masters, etc...
Why wouldn't we grab this opportunity, I kept thinking?
There are 2 vets as teachers, as well as a few others,
there are credits to be had for post-secondary education..
and you get to skip out of boring regular school classes:)
No brainer!
Obviously this puts a bit more stress on the other
courses they are taking time away from, but..
hey.. if it is of interest to him, give 'er pal! Hard enough
to keep interest sometimes in high school:)
I remember DUMBLY THINKING, I wish
I was done, I wish school was over... had I known
then what I know today!!:)
At this point we don't see Kurt choosing dairy for his
future necessarily, but the personal development,
the free education that will be had, and the
nice switch from regular school classes..
AWESOME OPPORTUNITY!
We all had to wear the fashionable blue booties:)
Little interaction with a curious bovine:)
Big discussion with his buddies:)
Quite a different view of Cheam compared to what we are used to!
